Gaining Elevation and Miles

As we got higher in the mountains the daytime temperatures started to go down a little bit. We started seeing trees and even flowers. I really liked this tree, a kind of palm I think, because it looked like a Dr. Seuss palm. Now I have seen a Dr. Seuss cactus and a Dr. Seuss palm in just a couple of days.

We also walked through a grove of pink flowers that looked a little bit like wild lupines. It reminded me of my Mum pointing out all the flowers to me when I was little. One of her favorite things on hikes is seeing all the alpine flowers, something she says she never saw in Australia. So walking through this lush little spot covered in pink flowers was kind of special.

The miles are also ticking by. After the huge milestone of the first 100 miles, I almost couldn’t believe how quickly we passed Mile Post 250. Not too much further and we will be in Big Bear Lake!

Mile Post 250 marked out in pebbles on the trail.

I’m feeling pretty much 100% again, we are getting back into the mountains, and we’re almost at a place that serves pancakes… awesome!
