Regeneration

From Baden-Powell we had a nice long ridge hike along the Angeles Crest. We said good-bye to Uncle Sid and Cow at the highway, then headed on to Kratka Ridge and Little Rock Creek. This is an old wildfire from I don’t know when. It’s pretty sad to hike through a burn, but on the bright side, the wildflowers were loving the extra sunlight. They were everywhere and they were beautiful!

Old burn area near Mt. Williamson and Kratka Ridge.
Wildflowers are leading the regeneration of mountain meadows.

The trail is still up at around 7500 feet through this burn. These regenerating meadows are probably alpine, and they sure look pretty. They are also loved by all kinds of insects and mammals, including big ones like bear and deer. It sure is good to see!
