O Canada!

WE FINISHED!!

No monument on the alternate PCT route, but the straight-line clearing visible behind me is the border.

Just after midday on Sunday 9/11, 130 days after starting in Campo at the U.S./Mexico border, we finally reached Canada. In the clearing that marks the border, Dad and I sat down to take it all in. We added a “Canada Dry” powdered mix to our water and had a celebratory drink. There was no PCT monument or group of hikers congratulating each other. It was just Dad and me and the wilderness, and I think that was a pretty cool way to wrap up the PCT after all.

Sharing a “Canada Dry” with Dad on the northern border.
