Muir Pass Approach

I think Muir Pass is probably the best known, or at least most talked about pass of the Sierras… maybe even of the PCT. Probably because of many comments on Far Out about its long ascent, its altitude, and its f you read anything about the Sierras or theOn a northbound hike, you approach Muir Pass from the east. The pass normally holds a lot of snow, so Dad had been keeping an eye on his Far Out app for trail conditions. The conditions sounded good, but there were an awful lot of comments about how long and hard of a hike it was. So we started our ascent re was a lot of comments about how long the hike up is,

We started our approach just after the turn-off to Bishop Pass. I’d read Far Out comments about how grueling the hike was
