Paradise Valley Cafe

After a cold and windy night, just after Bucksnort Mountain (I love that name!), we got up early to trek to Paradise Valley Cafe for breakfast. A stack of hot pancakes sounds really good when you wake up cold and hungry! The cafe is someplace between San Diego and Palm Springs. There are no other buildings or houses around it, and it is very close to the trail, so it’s kind of a magical place for a hiker.

I decided to start a very big breakfast with a bit of hot chocolate and whipped cream. Actually, lots of whipped cream. Yum! The portions were all generous, maybe especially generous because we were through-hikers. It’s a friendly place, and I’m glad we stopped there. Thanks for the extra whipped cream, Paradise Valley Cafe!

My kind of hot chocolate.

We didn’t stay for long because my Mum and sister are coming to meet us at Idyllwild tomorrow. Idyllwild is more than 25 miles away with lots of elevation change in between. I can’t wait to see them!

Heading into the southern tip of the San Bernardino en route to Saddle Junction (Idyllwild) to meet Mum and Lachlan the next day.
