Section D Portal

Entering Section D means going through a few tunnels.

I-15 is very noisy so we decided to put it behind us even though it was getting late. The trail goes under the freeway, and it seemed a pretty long walk in the darkness. We had headlamps, but I was still glad to be with my Dad. It was a little creepy!

Section D is all about the San Gabriel mountains, which we had been looking at all day from the trail from Silverwood Lake. The trail doesn’t run along as many creeks or lakes as it did in the San Bernardino’s, so I think it might be a lot like the San Jacinto section.

On the other side the trail started to climb. It was dark, but we really wanted to get away from the noise of the trucks and the trains. I also didn’t feel so great after my Quarter Pounder, so we kept going for a few miles. Night hiking is actually fun and easier in a way because it’s not so hot.

Now that we’re through the portal, I can’t wait to see Section D!
