My Mum and Lachlan arrived in Tehachapi a day after us. It was so awesome to see them! Mum had got a place for us all in Green Valley (in the San Gabriel Mountains), about an hour and a half from the beach. Even though it was 100° in Green Valley, it was not even 70° at Ventura beach! But we didn’t care. We went in for a swim anyway 🙂
We had fish-n-chips, wore non-hiking clothes, swung on swings and let our feet breathe for the whole day. It was such a good day.
Back at the house we were staying in, there was lots to explore… and wifi! Mum had brought my computer, and so whenever Lachlan and I weren’t finding some new nook in the house or the yard, we got to play Fortnight. It was fun to just be a kid again!
We had a fantastic few days together before we headed back to the trail. The weather was again in the high 90s and windy, which made it extra hard to say good-bye.
