First Sunset, Lake Morena

The first day was a long day, but we made it to Lake Morena without any issues. I guess enough folks do have problems that there is a need for a red button machine, like the one we passed on the trail today. My Dad and I did a lot of preparation for the PCT, but training in desert heat is not something we could really do over the Pacific Northwest winter. So this machine was kind of nice to see.

Dad’s phone had reception, so we called home and shared our first sunset with Mum and my little sister, Lachlan. There’s a lot of miles to go before I will see them next, in Idyllwild. I miss them both already!
